I love the idea of using video to promote B2B products and services -- in fact I'm affiliated with a startup that posts video content, webinars, and demos for business software.
But, the days of posting a creative video on YouTube and getting millions of views are long, long gone. Before spending a big chunk of your marketing budget on a killer viral video campaign, read this insider's article "The Secret Strategies Behind Many "Viral" Videos.
No time to read? Then watch the viral video of the viral video article. It's an amazing new marketing world folks.
If your marketing plans call for a viral video campaign, be sure you have some savvy Internet marketers on your staff, or have the funds to pay for professional marketing help.
Hi there,
I was browsing through postings on marketing budgets and strategies and came across your post. Very interesting, thanks.
I'm just started my own business online, and it really struck me just how much video's taken off on peoples' blog and websites these days.
The whole audio-visual presentation is so powerful, really grabs the attention, but it's a huge learning curve - as well as potential costs.
Something I came across while I've been online is from the Guerrilla Marketing team. They posed the question: what's better than free marketing? Their obvious answer: getting paid.
Now getting paid for my marketing sounds like the way to go. I'm already at go-live (trickle status though, for the aforementioned reasons, but I'm definitely implementing the Guerrilla ideas into my plan.
I'm wondering how that could tie up with videos? But it's certainly a truly viral idea - if people love the buzz you're creating so much, that they're willing to pay you for it. Now that could be really powerful indeed.
Thanks once again for a great site. I'll definitely be bookmarking and coming back to glean more gems from you over time!
Keep up the good work.
All the best,
Deb

I think it's really worth taking a quick look. Deb

Great article, yet the gurus will keep telling people to just put some videos on YouTube and expect a flood of traffic. There's also not much being said about how to convert the traffic even if it happens.

Video Blogging is Good marketing blog.
However you can do a good combination by dooing a radio toolbar plus you can as well do feeds on the toolbar and inform your readers of the recent post right on their toolbars.

Productive Internet marketing depends upon a reasonable budget. There actually is a good deal of truth to the old adage that you have to spend money to make money. By budgeting wisely, you will be able to get the greatest advantage from the money you do spend on marketing and promotion.

Applying viral video marketing concepts to BtoB could be pretty risky...but one has to take risks to make a real leap forward.

Internet marketing and any marketing for that matter, is the life blood of any business. But your advantage on the internet is huge, cause of the low cost and ease. (you can do it yourself) But you still have to work hard and put time into it...and we all know that nothing is for free in this world. (usually) Actually, I'm wrong, there's tons of stuff for free on the internet, and you can also get a ton of traffic to your site for free, if you know how to play the game, work hard, and know how to market yourself. There's tons of tricks and tips and I try to learn one everyday.

Viral marketing and viral advertising refer to marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networks to produce increases in brand awareness or to achieve other marketing objectives through self-replicating viral processes, analogous to the spread of pathological and computer viruses. It can be word-of-mouth delivered or enhanced by the network effects of the Internet.Viral promotions may take the form of video clips, interactive Flash games, advergames, ebooks, brandable software, images, or even text messages. The basic form of viral marketing is not infinitely sustainable.
